our journal process
Our journal process.
an allotment.
our journal
We decided to make a journal as our report so we divided each section. I chose the 1st section including a cover, contents, our ideas that we had developed for final idea and a back cover.
Due to making a journal like a calendar, we discussed sections and an allotment for each other.
I suggested using a same sized bar at the bottom of every pages and different coloured bars for each week. Others gave opinions about size of a journal that is 220mm x 140mm and some papers.
so far…..
week 11 – Journal for the exhibition.
We discussed what are we gonna do for the exhibition, and we decided to make a jounal like diary and then divided 3 parts and discussed sequences of our project.
by dicsussing, i felt i did anyhow…
we all learned how ‘communocate’ with others and solve the fronted problems about communication.
week 10 – Assembly!
This week was the final session with the kids and we announced in front of hundreds of students, teachers and parents about our work and a winner. The winner got a T-shirt with his drawing there.
It was totally great experience to me and I took many pictures and videos for keeping my experience. One of them is the national song. They were adorable!
I personally, really like Australian national song because when I came here, Australia, I only can hear and see the commonwealth game in the television and most winners were from AUSTRALIA! – Because I lived in Newcastle which does not have anything to play, but only TV. Therefore I automatically remembered the song, and then here, BNPS students are singing right in front of me. I was totally moved because I could remember the period of loneliness.
Good.

I want to be a book editorial designer, but what if nobody buys the book that I designed? I always think about this issue when I design a book (or related a book), but there is no particular answer of this kind of a question. Because there are various kinds of reading articles on the Internet as free, as well as in the library. Yes it is FREE. That is a definitely merit for readers.
When I was a university student in Korea 2001, I read a book of ‘The Internet, Hypertext and the end of the Book’ (Bae sik han, 2000, ISBN(13) : 9788970132037), and I totally enjoyed the book because I had thought about the end of the book in this 21st century, and the author’s statements was quite similar as mine. After 6 years later, I read this on The Times and I enjoyed too. ‘We spend on cashmere and cars, so why not books?’ (Erica Wagner, 14 April 2007, The Times). According to this article, the author felt content when she was just holding the 1st edition book in her hands (Erica Wagner, 14 April 2007, The Times), and I totally agree with her feeling. However, did I buy reading sources from Tania? I just bought the cradle to cradle and I downloaded other readings from the communication server.
Unhappily, Even though my parents always insist if I want to read something then I should buy a book that I wanted to read, I do not really buy many books as many excuses (even though I buy more books than other students). I sometimes buy magazines, newspapers, travel books and some quirky design books, not really related to studying just for enjoying myself.
Therefore, I thought I have to change my behaviour first for being a book designer.
However, is not there really the answer of not buying books? As a designer, quirky or inspirited design is only the solution for grabbing a book to readers? Unfortunately the answer that I found so far is ‘I am sorry, but yes’, because nothing can be saved the free reading articles yet.
This is a sad story to me, so I am not going to download any reading articles from the Internet any more.
Oh…..
